This photograph of RTE's FM
relay transmitter site for Waterford city in S.E. Ireland was taken
during July 2007 . The mast, in the Rathfadden area (highest part
of the city), was originally built decades ago to facilitate a
microwave link from RTE studios in downtown Waterford onwards to the
main studios in Dublin. However some years ago an FM radio relay was
installed on it to give a stronger FM reception in the city of RTE
radio than that available from the main transmitter for the southeast
at Mt Leinster. The transmit aerials are the two dipoles mounted off
the right-hand side of the mast, whilst receive yagis can be seen on
the left of the mast.
