Kevin Carroll explains:
Pictured here (as of August 2006) is the site used for the main
transmitter (102.2MHz) of 'West Limerick Community Radio', one of
Ireland's largest community stations covering Western County
Limerick. The location is Knockanimpaha hill in County Limerick.
The station's
single transmit antenna (102.2MHz) is mounted at the top right of the
mast as pictured. A microwave dish mounted off of the lower left-hand
side of the mast is to receive the studio-to-transmitter link, which is
in the 1.4GHz band. This is fed from the main studio in the town of
Newcastle West, about 4 miles east of this mast.
This mast was
built by the Health Board and is otherwise used for radio
communications systems for the emergency services etc.
