Many radio enthusiasts will know John Wilson as
one of
the people behind the excellent HF Series of radio receivers
made
by Lowe Electronics, and also as expert author for Short Wave Magazine
and Monitoring Monthly. Below are some photographs of John in
his
youth, sent in by his brother Alan, who writes:
"Here are some photographs of John Wilson in Burnley Road
Acrrington where it all began. John was building amateur radio gear
from bits from around 13 years old. I remember my Dad telling me that
he got caught out by the GPO when he took and passed the amateur radio
morse test at the age of 14 when one actually needed to be 16 years of
age to get a transmitting license!
Sorry about the poor quality but the pics are scans from plate photos
(not 35mm) which were found when we tidied out my sisters attic a
couple of months ago.
Kindest regards
Alan Wilson"
