BRMB RADIO'S FIRST DAY OF PROGRAMMES

Breakfast Kevin Morrison with the breakfast show.
9:00 am Norma Scott and Brian Savin with the mid-morning show.
1200 midday Peter Windows with a two hour lunch time chat show.
2:00 pm Ed Doolan - music, interviews and news,  including the listener market place 'Tradio'.
3:30 pm Alan Leighton.
5:00 pm Ed Doolan with 'Talk In'.
6.30 pm News and Sport with Keith Hayes and Tony Butler.
7.30 pm Robin Valk - The rock music show (The first ever programme featured an interview with Birmingham band ELO - the Electric Light Orchestra).
9:00 - 9:30 pm News programme (this half hour slot was gradually reduced over the years to five minutes).
9:30 - 11:00pm Robin Valk - the rock music show (continued).
11 pm John Howard with the late show (George Fergusson also presented the late show on other days).
Midnight Closedown.

2 am DAWN FLIGHT
With news bulletins at 2 am, 3 am, 4 am and 5am - Includes a special feature between 3 am - 4 am. BRMB's service for night owls in the Midlands
Includes music to keep you entertained and from the daily programmes. Plus Car of the Day and Horse of the Day racing tips.

6 am BREAKFAST SHOW
With news bulletins at 6 am, 7 am ind 8 am - Music, news, weather forecasts, travel news, frequent time checks, information on local events birthdays of famous personalities, anniversaries of historic and to local events, Yesterday Never Comes, Car of the Day, BRMB's Horse of the Day racing tip.
Presented by Les Ross.

9 am MORNING CALL
With news bulletins at 9 am, 10 am and 11 am -  Music, comment and information - and offering the unique interaction of  TWO WAY RADIO - where the listener asks and answers questions and queries on any subject you can name. Regular features, plus the Morning Call Phone-in between 11 am and 12 noon.
Presented by Nick Meanwell.

12 noon LUNCH ON
With news bulletins at 12 noon and 1 pm - Lunchtime listening Including the very best of your kind of music.

2 pm AFTERNOON
With news bulletins at 2 pm and 3 pm - Music, regular visits front celebrity guests and lots of features throughout the week.

4 pm HI WAY

With news bulletin at 6 pm - Detailed background and discussion, including phone in on affairs with particular reference to the Midlands.

SPECIALIST EVENING PROGRAMMES

Monday  to Wednesday 7 pm - SLATER - Up-tempo pop show featuring the latest chart sounds, new albums interviews with stars and up-to-the-minute news on what's happening on the pop scene.

Wednesday 9 pm - PERFORMANCE - Live sets from up-and-coming local bands and some of the top names in pop and rock.

Thursday 7 pm - THURSDAY ROCK - The thinking man's rock show, featuring all that's best in the wide world of rock music.

Thursday 9 pm- ATLANTIC CROSSINGS -  A look it the flow of British and American pop sounds whose crossover appeal has gained them popularity on both sides of the Atlantic.

7 pm THE MICRO SHOW
In association with the Midland Educational Co. Ltd. with news bulletin at 7 pm - Rams, roms, chips and everything. The world of computers explored, from the serious end to zapping the aliens.
Presented by Nick Clarke.

7.30 pm COUNTRY JAMBOREE
With news bulletins at 8 pm and 9 pm - Featuring current country releases, the American charts, requests and dedications, plus news of the local clubs.

10 pm OPEN LINE
With news bulletins at 10 pm, 11 pm and midnight - Listeners are encouraged to 'phone 021-359 4011 if they have particular problems they would like to talk about to someone -the Open Line team have time to listen. Also featured on the programme is gospel music, the popular 'Prayer Time' and the 'Contact' service which helps to trace missing persons. Studio guests include people from the church and from social and welfare services. Presented by Michael Hartley.

12.30 pm AFTERNOON WITH STEPHEN RHODES
Lively music, patter and a look. at what's happening on the local scene in the early afternoon. Hear also how Stephen copes with his visits to homes, work places and social centres in his out-and-about feature.

For people on the move in the Midlands, an e  ntertaining programme of music, travel information and features.

A wide range of programmes covering Drama,. Documentaries and Features produced by BRMB Radio and other ILR stations.

Les Ross with breakfast news, weather travel information, sport and the best in live music - this is the breakfast mix that makes Les Ross and fits team the Midland's favourite breakfast show His unique style and sense of humour have, also, made him the broadcasters fa favourite presenter!

1000-1300:  IN THE MORNING - Brendan Kearney
Brendan brings brightness to the morning with his mix of local features, funny phone calls, and informative interviews with the rich and famous. His 'Twelve o'Clock Thrill' is a must for lovers of the hits and he features great music all morning

1300 - 1500: AFTERNOON  - Stephen Rhodes
Stephen takes his afternoon show of hits and chat onto the streets as he meets interesting people in the Midlands. Each day he tells a story from his mixed and fascinating, mailbag.

1500 - 1800: HOLDEN IN THE AFTERNOON
The extraordinary Phil Holden explores his own brand of crazy humour with callers from all over the Midlands. His Pop Quiz, jokes and Superwoman award provide the fun while travel details, weather and the BRMB hit guarantee makes the afternoon essential listening

1800 - 1830: NEWSDAY
BRMB's comprehensive news magazine giving full coverage to all the main Midlands stories and the sports news in detail.

1830 - 2200: SLATER
The music is Slater! John plays the hits, the new music, the best of local bands and talks to the stars.

2200 - 0200: THE LATE SHOW - Nick Meanwell
Through till two Nick Meanwell plays the best in contemporary music and the great hits Nick's special features are a highlight of the show every night at 11 pm every night including Open Line's Michael Hartley on Monday, the news phone-in on Tuesday and the Fiendish Phone Quiz on Fridays

1800-1900:  SPORTS FORUM - George Gavin
George Gavin hosts BRMBs sports discussion programme that examines all sporting issues and isn't afraid of controversy.

1900 - 2000: SLATER ON FRIDAY
John Slater features the risers and breakers in the only chart to reflect the taste of the whole of the West Midlands - the BRMB West Midlands Top 30 compiled by chart experts MRIB. This is a chance to keep abreast of the latest chart trends

2000 - 2030: DECISION MAKERS
The IRN Political Unit reflect on the major issues of the day direct from London.

2030 - 2200: GEET MALA - Suman Kang and Tony Huq
A magazine programme for Asian listeners with all the best and latest in Asian music, news and views. Broadcast in Bengali and Hindi.

The fastest sports show on radio - George Gavin is the host and covers all the major Midland sporting action and news from around the country.

1800 - 2000: THE MASKED DJ
Mr Mystery plays all the best in hit music He never speaks but the music speaks for itself

2000 2100: THE FOXMAN
The Foxman rhymes and raps his way through an hour of classic soul music.

2100 - 2200: PERSPECTIVE
A wide range of programmes covering drama, documentaries and features produced by BRMB and independent Radio Stations from across the country.

2200 - 0200: ROMANTICA - Charlie
The best looking girl in British radio Charlie hosts the most romantic show - the Lover's Line with lover's music.

A chance to hear more great uncluttered hits of the past - and a phone line to get your dedications on air via this anonymous personality.

The multi-media show that covers movies, videos, books and the American Charts

A mixed dish of Afro Caribbean music and chat.

The Midland's top 'Country' man Brian Savin surveys the American Country Chart and features the local scene, requests and the new releases.

2200-0200: OPEN LINE  - Michael Hartley
BRMB's 'Open Line' is 021-359 4011 and it gives everyone a chance to talk through their problems. Michael Hartley provides the link between callers and the agencies that can help.
